We know from various archeological studies that Tamils have developed their civilization and culture beyond the world as far back as two thousand years ago. Today due to the changing technological development many of us are following that culture and civilization without forgetting. The festival is also known as the Great Pongal. On this day, Pongal is celebrated with sugarcane and fresh kolam as a way of giving thanks to the sun. The day before the Thai festival is celebrated as the Bogi festival. On Bhogi Day people celebrate the Bhogi Festival by burning old things in their home and burning their old troubles in the fire to start a new life happily. Mattu Pongal is celebrated by the people on the next day of the festival. On this day, people decorate their cattle and worship them as deities. On this Mattu Pongal day, people share their love with each other by playing games like jallikattu, horse racing, and cow racing in various towns. Pongal is celebrated on the third day of Thai Thirunalam. On this Pongal, people go to the beaches and tourist spots with their relatives and celebrate this festival by sharing their love and feeding everyone.
